For the Signature Project, Farida Amadou had invited the US poet, spoken word artist and rapper Camae Ayewa aka "Moor Mother".

A telling example of Belgian-Nigerien electric bassist Farida Amadou's eclectic career may be the Belgian punk band Cocaine Piss, with whom she worked in Steve Albini's legendary Chicago studio in 2019. She left the group to turn exclusively to electro-acoustic free sounds. She then focused more of her work on solo performances and released a solo album in 2020. A first impression of her music can be found here.

Farida Amadou is now using the invitation to Monheim am Rhein as an opportunity to connect to her musical roots: the African-American poet, spoken word artist and rapper Camae Ayewa also first played bass in a punk band called "Girls Dressed As Girls" before gaining international recognition as an artist with her pseudonym Moor Mother. Today, Ayewa is a member of the interdisciplinary artist collective "Black Quantum Futurism", the only US artist collective that was invited to this years documenta 15, and has co-initiated the art action "Musicians Against Police Brutality" in the USA, which in turn gave rise to her internationally sought-after avant-garde formation "Irreversible Entanglements".

One can look forward to this musical first encounter when Amadou's unmistakable percussive bass patterns and live electronics merge with Ayewa's radical vocal performance. Disarming, honest, explosive and highly up-to-date.
